Thank YOU for 35 years of Variety WA October 30, 2015 8:00 AM

Millions of dollars raised. Hundreds of thousands of children assisted. In 2015, Variety – the Children’s Charity of Western Australia celebrates 35 years of helping local kids in need.

Renowned for keeping the fun in fundraising through annual events like the Variety Bash and Variety of Chefs Ball, Variety WA marked our 35th Birthday in similar style, with a family picnic event at Variety Place, Kings Park on Saturday 17 October.

The event brought together Variety families with generous supporters who took on a special anniversary challenge to raise $35,000 for Variety WA in our 35th year.

Variety WA CEO, Michael Pailthorpe, said it was a fitting way to commemorate the occasion.

“Variety WA is all about empowering WA kids in need, and what better way to celebrate our anniversary than by sharing it with our Variety children and families. They are the reason we exist,” he said.

“At the same time, we wanted to honour those volunteers and supporters who made an outstanding contribution to Variety in our anniversary year. The artworks we presented each ’35 in 35’ supporter were hand created by Variety children as a token of their appreciation, and we know they will be cherished”.

The universally accessible adventure play area at Variety Place is one of countess major projects right across the state made possible by the donors and supporters of Variety WA over the years, benefitting local children who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs. Many thousands of individual children have also received direct assistance from Variety WA in this time, including wheelchairs, modified bicycles, assistive technology, scholarships, wheelchair accessible vehicle modifications and more.
