On  Monday, September 19, 2016 to Sunday, September 25, 2016 Variety the Children’s Charity of New York will be joining forces with food trucks and  food vendors across New York City for “Varieaty: Local Eats to Benefit Local Youth”, a week-long fundraising campaign supporting transformative arts programs for the tri-state area’s most under-served youth. During this campaign, participating food trucks and stands will donate a percentage of menu item sales back to Variety New York.  In addition certain participating vendors will be donating a percentage of profits from online purchases and cookbook sales. Participating vendors include: Yankee Doodle Dandy’s, Old Traditional Polish Cuisine, Comme Ci Comme Ça, Uncle Gussy’s, The Treats Truck, Sweet Chili NYC and Smorgasburg merchants Wowfulls and Gooey & Co.

By providing funds and support to 30 grassroots organizations Variety New York ensures access to high quality arts programs for over 20,000 of New York City’s most under-served youth including, but not limited to: homeless youth, foster care children, LGBTQ teens, recent refugees, juvenile justice involved adolescents, youth on the autism spectrum, and young people experiencing varying levels of post-traumatic stress disorder.  Over the past five years Variety New York has worked with over 50 grassroots organizations and 75,000 youth. Campaigns like Varieaty and the vendors who have joined in partnership help Variety New York get close to a goal of ensuring every young person in the New York tri-state area has access to transformative arts programs.

About Variety – the Children’s Charity of New York

Since 1948, Variety the Children’s Charity of New York has made a difference in the lives of children by providing essential funds to non-profit organizations in the tri-state area.  Our grant making practices reflect our mission “to support grassroots non-profit organizations in the Tri-State area whose programs use the arts as a catalyst to transform the lives of under-served children” by providing healthcare, education and extracurricular opportunities for thousands of children. Variety New York provides more than grants to grassroots organizations that are transforming the lives of under-served children through the arts. Variety provides a comprehensive, value-added set of resources that include technical assistance, evaluation, partnerships and collective infrastructure.

The leadership of our Board of Directors, dedicated staff and committed volunteers enables us to achieve the greatest possible impact for under-served children in our community.  A critical element of our success is attributed to the generosity of our donors. We receive tremendous support through various fundraising initiatives, individual donations and participation in our events.
