Variety Catherine Awards – 9 Inspirational Winners January 31, 2017 10:41 PM

Variety UK launched an exciting new initiative, Variety Catherine Awards, recognising inspirational Women in Business on Tuesday, 29th November at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, which was hosted by June Sarpong, one of the most recognisable faces of British Television.

The atmosphere at the event was electric and raised a significant monies for many sick, disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK.

Pamela Sinclair, Chief Barker 2016, said:

“We are extremely proud to establish the Variety Catherine Awards this year and we believe this event will become an important date in the diaries of many women in business across the country. Eventually I would like to see this event grow internationally. The Charity thanks the London Evening Standard for their invaluable media partnership and all who contributed towards a tremendously successful event”

The entire Variety UK team has worked tirelessly to create a strong, reputable brand that will continue telling baby Catherine’s story while celebrating phenomenal women in business in the UK and bringing many new supporters and ideas to the Charity.

The team was delighted to get in touch with Catherine Variety Sheridan’s son, Mike Mrlik, who was exceptionally supportive and even wrote a letter to our guests which was read on the evening:” I hope you have a wonderful awards ceremony this November 29th.I know my mother will be looking down with joy and pleased with the cause that started with her years ago. She always spoke highly about the organization outside of the US and how much it meant to her to see the candle burn so vibrantly!

We have formed a Committee of dedicated volunteers from several business sectors to help lead this dynamic project and create this new annual event.

“We have set such a good base in 2016”, said Neil Sinclair, Chair of the event, “and our goal is nothing else but to grow the Catherine Awards to new heights in 2017”. If you ask me what was the highlight of the evening, I can certainly say the inspirational speeches of our 9 winners but also the appeal joined by two mothers of our beneficiaries who left the entire room breathless, our dedicated judges who presented the awards joined by legend of British Television, Angela Rippon, wonderful TV presenter Emma Crosby and our very own Barbie Hislop, International President of Variety; Cassidy Janson who was performing the songs from Beautiful-the Carole King Musical, FUSE the award winning international violinists or Deleelah a young Soul and R&B sensation…  I personally want to say a big thank you to all of them and to many others, phenomenal people who helped this event happen”.
