Variety of Kansas City, 2014 Gold Heart Award recipient serving the Heart of America July 25, 2014 9:43 PM - Variety International

There is a reason Kansas City is nicknamed the “Heart of America” ….and it isn’t just because it is located in the middle of the country, it’s the overwhelming generosity of spirit found in this unique community straddling the Missouri and Kansas state lines. Tent 8 is proud to serve the Heart of America’s children and families in need.

In a city with a much higher than average number of not-for-profits per population, it can be a very competitive environment for charities. Variety of Kansas City is blessed to be surrounded by volunteers and board members with hard working Midwestern values, many of whom serve Variety in multiple ways. They all represent the true Heart of America and are a prime example of why Tent 8 has achieved record breaking success over the past 4 year. There truly is ‘No Place Like Home’

At the May 2014 World Conference, Variety – the Children’s Charity International awarded Variety of Kansas City with the highest award, the Gold Heart. The criteria for the Gold Heart Award included: programs, innovation, financial stability and growth. Variety of Kansas City competed against 40 chapters in 11 countries. Since 1934, it has helped thousands of children in Kansas City better live up to their potential by providing them with the mobility and communication devices they need as well as opportunities for inclusion within our community.
