Bob and Barbara Stewart have dedicated their lives to Variety’s mission and been central in Variety British Colombia’s success in supporting BC children with disabilities and complex health needs. Barbara commenced volunteering with Variety in 1972 and Bob in 1975. Since then, they have built an enduring legacy of philanthropic leadership. From 1982, Barbara became an international trailblazer advocating for women to be appointed barkers/members. She was appointed the first female BC Chief Barker in 1987 and launched the Gold Heart Pin program for Canada in 1971. Bob served as BC’s Chief Barker on 5 occasions, 1994-1996 and 2007-2008, during his terms he played a key leadership role ensuring the on-going viability and success of one of Variety’s key Tents. Both Bob and Barbara have been Variety International Board Directors and members of the Variety International Advisory Council.
The Stewarts are emblematic of the heart of Variety with their compassion and drive, with over 40yrs of continuous and transformative service to Variety’s mission.
