Personifying the spirit of kindness and generosity, the Forman family have a long and distinguished history of supporting children through Variety – the Children’s Charity, none more so than Michael R Forman.
Michael, a natural gentleman, devoted his talent, ideas and countless hours to Variety Boards and events, including the Variety International Board as Vice President and then President. He donated the seed capital for the William R Forman Fund, to fund the monetary portion of the Variety Heart Awards, in memory of his father. Michael mentored many Variety Executive Directors, Presidents and Board members, as well as being a generous sponsor and keen supporter of the Variety International Conferences over many years.
Michael supported many individual Variety Tents through donations, including Variety of Buffalo and Iowa through their telethons. Michael continued to support Variety until his passing in 2019.
A notable philanthropist, Michel also served as a life trustee of Cedars Sinai Medical Center, trustee emeritrus to the American Film Institute, and a trustee of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, among many other volunteer positions with hospitals, universities and within the motion picture industry.
